This Communication Update is to provide the community with an update on the Valley Park Community Centre Indoor Pool (970 Paramount Drive) in Ward 9 which is scheduled to reopen on August 17, 2026, after it was temporarily closed to complete a pool waterslide replacement and changeroom refresh.
Valley Park Community Centre was temporarily closed March 23, 2026, to complete a pool waterslide replacement and to conduct lifecycle upgrades as part of a robust preventative maintenance program managed by the Corporate Facilities and Energy Management Division in Public Works. Hamilton’s recreation centres, arenas, senior centres, pools, and community halls are routinely assessed, and maintenance plans are developed and executed to ensure that we can confidently provide access for our communities.
The following work was completed during the facility closure to minimize service and programming disruptions while completing necessary maintenance.
- Replacement of pool waterslide
- Re-grout of leisure pool and repairs to basin and deck tile
- Revitalization of pool deck through a deep clean
- Renewal of pool changerooms including tile work, painting and partitions
- Replacement of moveable wall in pool viewing area
- Renewal of pool deck window
- Upgrade of gymnasium lighting
- Paint refresh of gymnasium
Open Swim programs scheduled between August 17-23, 2026, will be offered free to the community.
