National Indigenous Peoples Day

To commemorate National Indigenous Peoples Day in Hamilton, the City’s Indigenous Relations office is hosting a celebration in the forecourt of City Hall.

The event will honour and celebrate Indigenous traditions and culture, as well as provide an opportunity for Indigenous knowledge sharing, singing and drumming.

The City remains committed to advancing truth and reconciliation through the ongoing implementation of its locally-focused Urban Indigenous Strategy. It encourages all residents to take time during National Indigenous History Month to educate themselves about Indigenous histories, strengths and important contributions, as well as the intergenerational pain and trauma caused by the residential school system.

Members of the media and the public are invited to attend. Join Hamilton’s urban Indigenous community as the City celebrates the rich heritage, diverse cultures and the outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis People in Hamilton and across Canada.
